Aston Martin competes at the highest levels of motorsport through its Formula 1 and World Endurance Championship campaigns, the importance of the past in shaping the company cannot be overlooked.
With the creation of the Aston Martin Heritage Racing program, Aston Martin has cemented its commitment to historic motorsport. To celebrate this, the Q by Aston Martin team has released a series of special liveries inspired by the company’s illustrious automobile racing heritage. Available for Vantage models, the 6 liveries are inspired by the color schemes of iconic cars spanning 96 years of racing history, from Land speed record holders to endurance race winners.

AMR1
In 1987 Aston Martin teamed up with Ecurie Ecosse to develop the nimrod successor, AMR1. The car was full of modern technology for its time, no more so than the kevlar/carbon-fibre monocoque chassis.
The Group C Monster
AMR1 cars were raced all over the globe with a 4th at the Brands Hatch 480km race, 6th at the Donnington 480km and 8th at the 480km Nürburgring event to name but a few. The car wore an eye-catching white, blue and red livery, matching the colours of the primary sponsor Mobil 1.
Razor Blade
Originally codenamed “oyster”, Razor Blade was built as a record challenging car. The bodywork was constructed by renowned aircraft company, De Havilland, from aluminum which remained unpainted, whilst the chassis was treated to a contrasting bright green paint.
The Record Breaker
Powered by a 1500cc Grand Prix race engine, producing 55bhp, Razor Blade set two class records in the 1500cc light car class at Brooklands.
Ulster
The Ulster team cars mark the end of an era, as the last race cars to run a 1.5L engine. The Ulster team cars, in their striking red paint, paid homage to one of Aston Martin’s most influential car designers – the Italian, Augustus Ceasare Bertelli. Bertelli’s cars saw much success, coming 3rd overall at Le Mans, winning its class, and finishing 4th in the RAC Tourist Trophy race. The cars are widely regarded as the pinnacle of pre-war racing cars.
The Italian Progettista
DB3S
The letters “DB” are synonymous with Aston Martin. DB3s/5 was David Brown’s personal car before it was commandeered by the Works team for racing in 1954. DB3s/5 finished 2nd overall in the 1954 Silverstone GP support race before finishing 3rd a 1-2-3-4 DB3s train at the 1955 support race.
The David Brown Era
1956 saw none other than Stirling Moss handed the keys, where he drove the car to a win at the Easter Monday meet at Silverstone before the cars new owner, Roy Salvadori, took the car to other international-level victories later that year.
DBR9
The DBR9 took Aston Martin’s challenge to the GT racing world when it was launched in 2005. At the Sebring 12hrs, on its first outing, DBR9 was able to take the win from Corvette. The car went on to run highly competitively across the globe before winning the 2007 Le Mans GT1 class. In 2008 the team returned with a new title sponsor, Gulf Oil International Group and one of motorsport’s most iconic liveries. The DBR9 took the GT1 class victory, making it back to back class wins for Aston Martin at Le Mans.
The Le Mans Winner
GTE
Presented in an unmissable lime essence & sterling green livery with contrasting orange highlights, the new Aston Martin Vantage GTE is the company’s latest offering to the motorsport world. With the previous Vantage race car racking up 36 wins, the new Vantage GTE car took just four races to score its maiden GTE Pro win at the World Endurance Championship 6hrs of Shanghai.
The Next Generation
With the weight of 104 years of company history on its shoulders, the new Vantage GTE continues to perform at the pinnacle of endurance motorsport continuing Aston Martin’s long history of automobile racing.
VANTAGE HERITAGE RACING EDITION
The Vantage Heritage Racing Editions made their global debut at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed, one of the Automotive highlights of the British Summer. The special liveries will be available for customers to order immediately with up to 60 vehicles available globally.
